Marine pollution monitoring

IAEA Project RAF/7/009 supported an integrated approach to marine pollution monitoring using nuclear analytical techniques. The Centre reconstructed a 100-year pollution history of the Niger Delta using sediment core dating and mapped pollution hotspots in central coastal waters.

Its scientific database tracks environmental radioactivity, pollution stocks, and seafood safety in coastal waters from 2011 onward, as reported in the Centre’s profile.
